"It's an amazing life we've built together and we need to do something big ... it's been a great 20 years, and [Cassidy is] just really an incredible person," Bentley boasts to People.
Bentley's wife has been with him since before he was a country music superstar. They lost touch, but reconnected just his career was beginning to take off.
"My wife is — I've known her since eighth grade in Arizona," Bentley reveals. "On social media, our story isn't as well known as some other people [who are] a little more public about all that stuff, but [that's] always never really been our style."
Dierks Bentley's Love Story With His Wife Cassidy
Bentley tried dating his wife in high school, but the relationship didn't make it (per The Boot). But when he moved to Nashville, while she was living in California, working at an advertising firm, Bentley started writing love letters to her, the beginnings of their romance.
Bentley played a show in Las Vegas, close enough to where Cassidy was living. She met him at the show, and as soon as she walked on his bus, he knew his days of being single were over.
"We got married in a little chapel in Mexico, and it was beautiful and private and real," Cassidy recalls.
Now the couple are not only celebrating two decades of marriage, but raising three beautiful children as well, which is why Bentley wants to celebrate their relationship even more.
"My kids are very busy with travel hockey and theater and all the stuff they do... and whatnot," the Grand Ole Opry member says. "But we are kind of a core unit and we've done a lot together. My wife and I really need our 20th to do some [sort] of adventure, something special together."
"We really have spent so much time as a family, and moving into the next 20 [years], I don't know what it'll look like," he adds. "Our kids are growing up, so [there won't be] a lot more time together down the road."
Bentley's star-studded Broken Branches album will be out on June 13.
