Reportedly, Dolly Parton was invited onto Meghan Markle's Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, but was turned down. The singer's team was apparently very unhappy that the ex-royal wanted to use her brand and image.

Dolly Parton isn't just a country star. Her image has been lent to other industries, such as general lifestyle and home goods. With her line of sweet treats, and recently her single serve ready meals, Parton's face is etched into many isles of the grocery store thanks to her charm and authentic lifestyle and attitude.
Considering her golden reputation, it's no wonder that, allegedly, Dolly Parton was approached to be on Meghan Markle's cooking show. However, the "Jolene" hitmaker refused with her team (and surely herself by extension) taking offence.
Kinsey Schofield visited Maureen Callahan on her show The Nerve, where Schofield got into some news she received from an anonymous source.
"I had a source reach out to me and tell me that Dolly Parton was approached about appearing on an episode of 'With Love, Meghan' and making a cameo," she explained. "Her team was livid." I can only imagine Dolly Parton shared the same ire.
The team don't want to risk Dolly Parton's reputation and popularity by associating with the tabloid-fodder ex-royal. They felt Parton was being used to make Markle look better in the lifestyle space.
Meghan Markle Accused Of Wanting To Use Dolly Parton For Reputation Boost
"They knew that this ask was just to give Meghan Markle credibility in this lifestyle space, a space that Dolly does have a lot of credibility in," Schofield continued. "Meghan was trying to take advantage of her popularity, and so absolutely not, they did not make time for Dolly to appear on 'With Love, Meghan.'"
Dolly Parton's authenticity got brought up again, something that Markle is often accused of lacking, however.
"I think that the objective was to use some of Dolly's star power," Schofield pushed.
Given what With Love, Meghan is all about, Dolly Parton would be a natural fit in the environment. Whether the invitation was a sincere invite or a grab for some of her authenticity and fame is unknown, however.
Either way, Dolly Parton's team appeared not to appreciate the gesture.
