Dolly Parton has revealed a major detail of her marriage that has helped her and her partner stay together for 58 years. It turns out, he's pretty funny.

The legendary singer sat down with Bunnie XO on her Dumb Blonde podcast, where they hit it off and had a blast. Together, they talked about a wide range of subjects, including how Parton's maintained a marriage of almost six decades.
Although they've always loved each other, there is one aspect of their relationship that Dolly Parton brought up that helps explain how they've lasted together for so long; they share a brilliant humor together.
"He's quiet and I'm loud, and we're funny. Oh, he's hilarious," she said of her reserved husband, Carl Thomas Dean.
Of course, there's more to it than just having a laugh, such as respect, but they do have a good time. "I think one of the things that's made it last so long through the years is that we love each other, we respect each other, but we have a lot of fun."
Parton and Dean, as any couple, have encountered disagreements, but they never let it go too far. "Anytime [there's] too much tension going on, either one of us can like, find a joke about it to really break the tension, where we don't let it go so far."
Constantly managing any tension between each other with their shared humor has allowed them to maintain their affection toward each other.
Dolly Parton Is Thankful For Not Arguing With Her Husband
Dolly Parton went to say that she's seen how arguing back and forth has ruined relationships before, and is so glad that's not the case with her and her husband.
"We never fought back and forth. And I'm glad now that we never did, because once you start that, that becomes a lifetime thing," she said.
"I've seen it with so many people, and I thought, 'I ain't ever starting that.'"
Although Parton is very confident and down-to-earth, she also reveals she's very sensitive. The thought that her husband would ever say something that would offend her is an uncomfortable one.
"I couldn't bear to think that he'd say something I couldn't take, because I'm a very sensitive person toward other people and myself."
So there we have it folks. Just remember that each and every relationship is unique, so it may not be wise to crack a joke the next time your partner is mad at you, just because it works for Parton and Dean.
