Driver Dies After Accident with Timber Truck Straight Out of 'Final Destination'

The man had apparently failed to notice the semi-truck carrying timber slowing down. The protruding timber pierced the cab.

In a tragic turn events, a 44-year-old Florida man has died after colliding with a semi-truck. As reported by People, the semi-truck was carrying timber, and it pierced the car.

Authorities identified the man as Gabriel Lorenzo Beauford, of Winter Park, Florida. He was found dead at around 10:50am local time on Wednesday, April 1. According to an officer from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened at US 98 North and State Road 471.

However, the driver of the semi-truck wasn't injured in the accidents. But, his identity has not been made public.

Police said that Beauford apparently didn't notice the truck in front of him slowing down to make a left turn. This meant he crashed into the timber that was "protruding" from the truck.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office said that "large pieces of timber pierced the cab of the victim's truck, as well as the trailer and cargo within the trailer, which in turn caused some hazardous material to spill at the scene."

Beauford was driving a 2008 Volvo semi-tractor with an attached trailer.

The incident left the road closed for around seven hours, with several agencies helping to clean up. Polk County Fire Rescue and Polk County Road Maintenance helped to clear the incident.

This Isn't the First Time a Timber Truck Has Been Involved In An Accident

But, strangely enough, this isn't the first time something out of Final Destination has happened. People reported that in 2024, timber had fell of a truck on an overpass, striking a car below.

The incident was shared on social media through dashcam footage, which showed lumber tumbling off an overpass into oncoming traffic. Derek Gooderham recalled the incident, calling it an averlanche.

"[It was] an avalanche of 2x4s and 2x12s" that covered the highway, he said. He also said that the incident was "the scariest thing that I have seen so far in my life." He added that "I hope there's nothing that tops that, but it was pretty scary.

Gooderham also recalled the planks of wood flying down at "highway speed". Scary stuff!

Rest in peace to the man killed in the tragic car crash.
