Per Fox News, Robertson had battled multiple health conditions, including Alzheimer's. He passed away on Sunday, May 25. His daughter-in-law, Korie Robertson, revealed his death on Instagram, saying, "We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. He reminded us often of the words of Paul, "You do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him."
Korie explains that the family will have a private service but will share details of a public celebration of his life soon.
The Duck Dynasty Star Battled With Alzheimer's Since Last Year
Robertson's family revealed on a podcast in December last year that the reality TV star was battling the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. Per a report by People from December 6, his son, Jase, said, "Phil's not doing well. I think I spoke on the 1000th podcast. We were trying to figure out the diagnosis, but according to the doctors, they are sure that he has some sort of blood disease causing all kinds of problems." In a more recent episode of the 'Unashamed With The Roberts Podcast,' Jase described his father's condition as "not good." Per People, he explained, "We're making him comfortable, and we're doing the best we can. I think that's just what you do."
His son, Jase Robertson, posted an update on social media, saying, "My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed, but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!"
Phil Robertson was a professional hunter and became a household name for his role in the reality TV series Duck Dynasty. Many members of his family were involved, and the show ran for 11 seasons between 2012 and 2017. An upcoming reality show called Duck Dynasty: The Revival is due to premiere later this year.
