Jase Robertson revealed that his father, "Duck Dynasty" star, Phil Robertson, was diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer's disease. The news quickly went viral, and almost a week later, Sadie Robertson, Phil's grandaughter, spoke about her granddad's shocking diagnosis.

Sadie Robertson posted on Instagram, stating that the fact that her grandfather's cancer diagnosis became public and covered by multiple outlets "makes it even more real." "In moments like this, it can feel overwhelming for such bad news to be such public news," Sadie wrote. "But you know what? I'm genuinely so thankful my family chose to make our life public because of how incredible it is that so many people know my grandpa! Y'all got to see the way he lived his life!"
Sadie said she was proud of being Phil Roberston's granddaughter and thankful for her Christian upbringing. "I'm so glad that I grew up in a family where it was completely normal for strangers to have a meal in our home, and get baptized in the river before they left because to Papaw Phil that was just natural!" she continued.
Sadie uploaded a photo of her and her grandfather on a boat. She appears to look up to him with a loving granddaughter's stare. "The most impressionable thing to me was how he ministered to every single person who stepped in his door and sat on the couch beside his iconic chair," Saide said. She also wrote about how impressive her grandfather's ministry was, impacting millions.
"Sad for the days we are in, but grateful for the days we've had. Keeping the memories alive, and I'm thankful we filmed a whole tv together of memories," she concluded. "I've never rewatched Duck Dynasty until now, and its really special in a whole new way to me."
A Heartbreaking Diagnosis
On Sunday, December 1st, during an "Unashamed with the Roberston Family" podcast episode titled "Phil's Diagnosis," Jase Roberston revealed that his dad, Phil Robertson was suffering from a blood disease and early Alzheimer's disease. The blood disease, according to Jase, is causing "all kinds of problems," but adding Alzheimer's disease on top has made Phil Robertson struggle.
That said, according to Jase, Phil Robertson wants to go back to work as soon as he can. Meanwhile, his family has a team of doctors working for them. Most likely, are adapting their house to make living with Alzheimer's disease a bit easier for Phil.
