According to a report by the Daily Mail, the incident occurred on April 15 at the Soekarno-Hatta airport in Jakarta. The plane was readying for takeoff at the time. The passenger reportedly told a flight attendant that she had brought a bomb with her as she boarded the Batik Air flight. The outlet explains that the attendant 'immediately carried out the standard operational procedure' and notified aviation security officers and the pilot.
Another passenger filmed the incident. Flight attendants stood by the woman as she collected her hand luggage and belongings from her seat. The lady doesn't make a fuss and cooperates with airline staff as they quietly escort her down the aisle and off the plane. All the other passengers remained in their seats.
The Incident Delayed The Plane For Two Hours
Per Need To Know, flight officials handed the woman over to the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police. Authorities determined that the woman was indeed joking about the explosive in her luggage. The flight, which was en route to Sam Ratulangi International Airport, was delayed for two hours.
Danang Mandala Prihantoro, the Corporate Communications Strategic of Batik Air, confirmed that Batik Air blacklisted the woman. He reportedly said, "A female guest passenger who sat in seat 11E was known to deliver a statement containing a threat element. Namely admitting to bringing a bomb to one of the cabin crew."
Just as much drama surrounding plane travel occurs on the ground as in the air. Back in March, a passenger was late for their departure at the El Tepual International Airport in Puerto Montt, Chile. Rather than waiting in the terminal or booking another flight, they decided the best thing to do was stand in front of the aircraft on the tarmac.
An eyewitness caught footage of the angry passenger squaring off against the 45+ ton jet on the runway. The man appeared to argue when a member of the airport staff approached him but cooperated when two more showed up. Authorities did not explain how the passenger managed to get onto the tarmac unopposed. Airport staff handed the misbehaving flier over to the police after the incident.
