I'm glad that at this fraught time for our nation, Ella Langley, one of the premier country artists we have, decided to talk about love. She was in Edmonton opening for Morgan Wallen following a break from touring to restore her mental and physical well-being. She sings with passion and is seeking it, as are so many of us. Before performing the song "Nicotine," a co-write of hers, Joybeth Taylor, Jon, Nite, and Zach Kale, Langley talked frankly to the audience about love and what it means to her.

Langley Invited the Audience to Sing Along With Her
As shown on a TikTok video, Langley spoke to the crowd before launching into "Nicotine." The song is on her 2024 album, Hungover. She went into detail about what she someday hopes to find in her special someone. She also encouraged people to sing the song with her if they are questing for love, too.
"Do I have anybody in love with somebody else out there tonight? Do I have anybody looking for love out there tonight? Alright, for those of you who are in love with somebody, you can sing this song to them. Good for you, we're jealous, everyone here. If not, and you're looking for that kind of love..."
She added, "To me, love is everything. It's passionate, it's honest, it's hardworking. It's forgiveness. I'm looking for that. Somebody that I just know is my person."
Two country music icons, Lainey Wilson and Reba McEntire, are preparing to walk down the aisle with their romantic partners. Maybe Ella Langley will be next, who knows?
Langley Described the Song and Its Meaning for Her
Per Substream Magazine, Langley shared what "Nicotine" represents to her. "'{N}icotine' is about craving someone almost as much, if not more, than the vices you had when you were twenty something. 'nicotine' is that young rebellious love that everybody wants. It sets the tone and is a great representation of my upcoming album."
I love the lyrics. They describe the kind of implacable, epic, dramatic passion that supersedes everything. Eating, sleeping, and existing all come second. The kind of love found in Hollywood romances. The love that sweeps you off your feet and leaves you head-over-heels mad for somebody.
"You'd have a warning / But I'd skip the label / So if I ever tried to quit you, I wouldn't be able / I'd be addicted, hell, I'd be hooked / 'Cause I'm a little more bad than good...."
