Ella Langley Mixes Up Names Onstage, Laughs It Off

Ella Langley had a moment onstage recently that she's still trying to explain, mainly because even she isn't sure how it happened. Or that's what she said.

Videos by Wide Open Country

The Alabama native is currently serving as direct support for Riley Green's Damn Country Music Tour. During a recent stop, she took the stage after openers Wyatt McCubbin and Vincent Mason. When it came time to shout out the earlier performers, though, Langley accidentally called out Hudson Westbrook, who wasn't even on the bill.

Westbrook, another rising country act, has been touring with Ian Munsick and Parker McCollum this year. He's also headlining his own shows, but he's not part of the Green-Langley lineup.

After the show, Langley jumped on social media to own the mistake.

"I made an oopsie," she said in a video that looked like it was filmed from her bus. "And the problem is, the oopsie was so strange, because I have no idea why."

She recalled how the crowd actually cheered after the slip, though she could tell something felt off.

"They were excited, but kind of confused," she said, laughing. "Anyway, public apology. Sorry. Sorry Vincent! Hudson, shoutout to you. And Vincent... I'm so sorry."

Both Westbrook and Mason took it in stride. Mason dropped into the comments with a playful jab:

"Literally who is Vincent Mason."

Westbrook followed up with his own nod:

"I'll take the shoutout any day."

Langley also included a backstage clip of herself apologizing to Mason directly. "I don't even know what to say," she told him, while Mason hugged her and reassured her it was fine.

"I'm not used to having openers at all," Langley admitted. "I'm used to being the first one. Sorry!"

It's a relatable moment for Langley, who's still adjusting to life at center stage.

The 25-year-old singer-songwriter -- full name Elizabeth Camille Langley -- released her debut album Hungover on August 2, 2024, via Sony Music Nashville and Columbia Records. The project includes her chart-topping duet with Green, You Look Like You Love Me.

Hope Hull to Headliner

Langley grew up in Hope Hull, Alabama, singing in church and jamming with her family. After her grandfather passed, her father restrung his guitar for her, and that night, she taught herself Bob Marley's Three Little Birds.

She gave her first public performance in high school, then spent years playing small venues across Alabama. In 2019, she moved to Nashville and started building her fanbase online, especially on TikTok. She signed her first publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing in 2021, and hasn't slowed down since.

These days, Langley's no stranger to the spotlight -- or the occasional flub. But with her down-to-earth charm and a good sense of humor, even her missteps win fans over.
