We're in the age of the spinoff. Studios and execs feverishly favor familiar IP, milking a cow no matter how good or bad it is. It's easier than creating fresh, original stories, new characters. We're in a never ending loop of snapping our fingers at the TV, trying to capture a reference. Why not reboot Everybody Loves Raymond? If Brad Garrett has anything to say about it, we're not getting it.

Recently, he spoke with PEOPLE for the premiere of Disney's latest animated film Elio. There, he confirms personally that there won't be an Everybody Loves Raymond reboot. Brad was Ray Romano's older brother on the show. Consequently, he still holds a firm relationship with everyone on the show. He talked to creators Ray Romano and Phillip Rosenthal himself to verify that it's not going down.
Everybody Loves Raymond Reboot Firmly Not Happening
Well how come? It could be an easy payday for everyone involved. A reunion would be good nostalgia for them and the audience. Rake in the rough right? Not quite. All parties involved believe it's not right because Peter Boyle and Doris Roberts, who plays Romano's parents on the sitcom, passed away.
"There is no show without the parents," Garrett says of Everybody Loves Raymond. "They were the catalyst, and to do anything that would resemble that wouldn't be right to the audiences or the loyal fan base. And it was about those two families, and you can't get around that."
Although the show isn't going to come back, Brad Garrett remains thankful that he had the opportunity to star alongside everyone. Ultimately, it feels like divine luck that he got to be a part of something he adores so much. "I know [the reboot] won't happen, but 30 years later, I got very lucky to get on that bus. I'm very grateful," he adds of his experience on Everybody Loves Raymond.
