A 19-year-old female prison guard was arrested after allegedly having sex with a convict. The act was filmed at the HMP Five Wells prison. Authorities suspended the officer, with the video of the act being previously shared among prison inmates and other people outside the prison. The prison previously garnered attention for an in-prison murder and a widespread drug problem.

The video was obtained by The Sun. According to the outlet, it shows the 19-year-old guard engaging in a lewd act with a "burly, tattooed" inmate. The video was quickly distributed among inmates in HMP Five Wells, but the video was distributed outside the prison too.
A source spoke with The Sun, labeling the incident "really shocking." The source referenced several other scandals in HMP prisons, such as the similar case of Linda de Sousa Abreu. Abreu, a married woman, was caught on tape having sex with an inmate, with her later admitting to misconduct in a public office.
A Prison Under Fire
Other scandals include the death of a 49-year-old man on HMP Five Wells premises. A 20-year-old man was arrested in connection to the murder investigation. Authorities also discovered a widespread network that allowed inmates to access drugs with ease.
"It is really shocking, especially after scandals at other jails," the source told the outlet. And things are clearly so lax in there that they think they can be doing this all day, messing around with members of staff. He's obviously enjoying himself and they have both got caught up in the moment - but the female warder is being incredibly stupid and playing with fire."
The source later stated that the 19-year-old's career is "effectively over." "I know they're called screws but you can't be sleeping with prisoners in your own prison and you definitely shouldn't be doing it on camera," the source said.
HMP Five Wells later issued a short statement via one of its spokespersons. "A prison custody officer has been suspended and arrested by Northamptonshire Police on suspicion of misconduct in a public office," the spokesperson said, according to the Daily Mail. "A prisoner has been relocated. It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate."
Northampton Police confirmed that the woman was arrested for an alleged misconduct in a public office offense. However, similarly to the prison, the police made no further comments.
