Folk Rock Legend Cancels Two Shows Due To "Chronic" Back Pain That Requires Surgery

Folk rock legend Paul Simon has cancelled two live shows due to "chronic and intense" back pain. He is hoping to make a recovery after a minor surgery.

Paul Simon has been on his A Quiet Celebration Tour in North America. He had a show slated for yesterday (June 28) and today (June 29), but both have been cancelled.

Hours before his June 28 show in Philadelphia's Academy of Music, the shows were cancelled. A post on Instagram confirmed both cancellations.

"Regretfully, Paul Simon must cancel two shows," the announcement began.

"Paul has been struggling with chronic and intense back pain. Today it became unmanageable and demands immediate attention."

The shows have not been postponed, and ticket buyers have been urged to get a refund. However, Paul Simon is hoping to make up for these dates, although nothing can be confirmed yet.

"However, we are hopeful after this minor surgical procedure which has been scheduled in the next few days, Paul will be able to complete the tour as well as look into returning to make up these dates," the post explains.

In the meantime, they urge people to go to the point of purchase to complete refunds.

Back Pain And Surgery Get In The Way Of Paul Simon's Tour

The last dates of the A Quiet Celebration Tour are set for early August at the Benaroya Hall in Seattle. If he manages to recover from the surgery and is able to make up the dates, they'll have to be after the tour is over.

So fans looking forward to the show yesterday and today will have to wait a little longer. If they're lucky.

Fans took to the comments to wish Paul Simon well.

"My heart just DROPPED, i thought it said something else :(. i hope he gets well soon," wrote one.

"I hope you get well soon!" exclaimed another.
