Where are you going to get the best guitar music nowadays? Modern, contemporary rock music is practically dead at this point. The mainstream hasn't really felt like the good stuff since at least the mid 2000s. You might dig around in the more niche metal side of things to find a killer guitar solo. But besides that, where are you going to get some great guitar-forward jams? Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett certainly knows what the good stuff sounds like. He argues that the best to shred the instrument today exist in country music.

Recently, Shiflett spoke with Louisville Public Media, where he argues that the guitar playing in Nashville is the cream of the crop in modern music. "All the good guitar playing's been in country music for a long time. Rock music? There's a lot of cool stuff. But if you're looking for someone playing like Don Rich? It's not coming from the rock world," The Foo Fighters guitarist says.

Additionally, Chris believes that country gets an unfair shake from rock puritans. There's this perception that rock is so vastly superior when truly, the playing field isn't that drastically different. The Foo Fighters can work within the same ballpark as the Sturgill Simpsons of the world. "Nobody from the country side says, 'You like rock music?' But everybody from the rock side is like, 'You like country?!' Like it's some betrayal," Shiflett explains.
The Foo Fighters aren't the only band that want in on some of the country action. Recently, Creed performed at Stagecoach and made their petition to collaborate with Zach Bryan as well. "We've been back and forth, kind of communicating with Zach for a while now. And so it seems like an organic thing is happening there. So, stay tuned on that one," Lead singer Scott Stapp teases.
