Longtime Guns N' Roses Member Leaves Band After 19 Years

Bands that are together for a long time inevitably have personnel changes. Members come and go over the years. Sometimes health issues arise. Or they get weary of the grind, which includes touring and recording. They get into arguments about artistic matters. In some cases, a solo career beckons. Talking about high-profile departures, drummer Frank Ferrer, 58, has left Guns N' Roses after almost two decades - and the group is on the brink of a tour. Per newyorkpost.com, "Guns N' Roses announced the departure of its drummer, Frank Ferrer, after 19 years - and the exit comes weeks before the band is scheduled to hit the road for a slate of May tour dates." Tough timing, guys!

The Band Made Frank Ferrer's Leave-Taking Public On Social Media Recently

Guns N' Roses made the following announcement on March 19 on Instagram. It was titled, "Guns N' Roses announce the amicable exit of Frank Ferrer."

Their statement read, "The band thanks Frank for his friendship, creativity, and sturdy presence over the past 19 years, and wish him success in the next chapter of his musical journey. Frank first joined GNR during a show in June 2006 helping anchor the rhythm section during subsequent tours, including their recent outings featuring the reunited trip of Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan. His last show with the band took place November 5, 2023 in Mexico."

The show that Ferrer initially joined the band for was in Dessel, Belgium, according to the outlet. Ferrer's stint with GNR was only supposed to be for two weeks as a temporary fill-in for Bryan "Brain" Mantia. However, Ferrer landed the gig for good in October of that year.

Ferrer Talked About His Relationship With Guns N' Roses In An Interview In January

According to the outlet via My Global Mind, Ferrer shared, "It was initially only going to be a temporary thing. It was only going to be for two weeks. But in my heart, I felt like, if I could really do well on this, even if it's just for two weeks, then it could open up a lot of doors. So, I didn't have any fear. A matter of fact, it was the complete opposite. I felt like, OK, I'm ready for this."
