This news follows another health battle for the Full House actor, known to generations of television viewers as "Uncle Joey." Just months ago, he overcame stage 3 non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, a blood cancer.
During the interview with show host Craig Melvin, the comedian recalled, "I said to the doctors, 'Well, did this happen because of the lymphoma?' And they said, 'Totally unrelated.'"
The News Isn't All Bad for Dave Coulier
During his previous cancer treatment, which began last year, Coulier's wife, Melissa Brings, revealed that there were times when he wanted to quit.
"After [the fifth round of] chemo, he was like, 'I don't know if I could do this again,'" she shared. "He was like, 'I'm prepared either way. If I die, I die. And if I can stay here, great. I want to.' Those conversations were obviously so tough."
However, facing cancer this time brings a more hopeful outlook. Coulier shared a better prognosis with viewers.
"It has a 90-plus curability rate," said Coulier. "But the thing that has really saved my life is that early detection... saved my life, not just the first time, but the second time as well. So I hope you're getting your check-ups."
Amid his own health battles, Coulier has also endured personal losses, having lost his mother, a sister, and a niece to the disease.
Coulier Had Support From Beyond
During his previous battle with cancer, Coulier revealed that his Full House co-star Bob Saget came to visit him in his dreams and made him laugh. Coulier had met Saget when he was just 18 years old, before joining the show. Saget died from blunt head trauma caused by a fall in Orlando, Florida, in 2022.
"'How are you doing? What's the prognosis, Dave? Tell me what's going on.' He would have driven me crazy," Coulier says. "It was a lovable crazy that he had. I think about him often. I'll be having a moment of clarity, and I'll think, 'Oh, call Bob,' and then I realize I can't."
