The Honkiest Of Tonkers (Act 2) is a spiritual successor to The Honkiest Of Tonkers (Act 1) in all the right ways. It teases even more out of Garrett Bradford, and shines light on the different corners of his honky tonk heart.
Many will be familiar with his hit "This Way Of Life," which featured on Yellowstone Season 3, Episode 9. The exposure on the hit Taylor Sheridan show made it the most Shazamed song the following day. It turns out, however, that the iconic track wasn't just picked up by Sheridan, but requested by him.
That's right, Garrett Bradford is much more closely connected to Taylor Sheridan and Yellowstone than one may assume.
For the past few years, Bradford has done a number of odd jobs for Sheridan, and they quickly became good friends. When Sheridan learned that Bradford knew how to play guitar, it was only a matter of time before a request for the song was made.
But that's just one of the songs on this incredible album.
The Honkiest Of Tonkers (Act 2) is available on streaming platforms now.
'The Honkiest Of Tonkers (Act 2)' Is Country In All The Right Ways
The album doesn't scream country, but whispers it through the pines and crop fields. It's the country in the breeze, and the country in the footsteps that mark the path no one else took.
It's a very chill album, another set of songs that feel like front porch truths. Bradford's upbringing on a ranch has been harnessed and manifested into these tracks.
Speaking on the album to Wide Open Country, Garrett Bradford said, "I've always wanted to release an album and it's very satisfying to finally have done that. Singles are great, but I think an album is a much deeper display of my songwriting and who I am as an artist."
And don't worry. This won't be the only thing Garrett Bradford puts out this year. He plans to be very busy.
He wrote, "I plan on playing as many shows as possible and hopefully get on a tour as an opener for a more established artist. I also plan to release another EP or album later this year. I want to put out a lot of music in 2025."
Now that's what I like to hear.
If Garrett Bradford is performing in your neck of the woods, make sure to go pay him a visit. He'd sure appreciate it.
