Parents often freak out when their child gets a tattoo. They are usually not pleased with the body art, no matter how unobtrusive or cute it is. They want their kid's skin to be pristine as the driven snow - no boyfriend or girlfriend names, symbols, famous faces, etc. Ask Miranda Lambert. She went through this predicament many years ago with her dad. Fortunately, the much-revered King of Country Music, George Strait, was in her corner. Twelve years ago, in 2013, Lambert talked candidly about the incident. Whiskey Riff unearths and revisits it, and it's well worth hearing about. It reveals the real character and classiness of these two great country music stars.

Years Ago, Miranda Lambert Got Herself A Tattoo
Let's set the scene. Nineteen years ago, Lambert was touring with George Strait. She was just 22. Her father, Rick, was with them. He was not happy about his girl getting a tat. The senior Lambert was so aggrieved about it that he ceased speaking to Miranda for two weeks. That must have been extremely awkward, given the fact that they were in very close proximity aboard a bus.
Lambert Was Admirably Upfront About The Whole Thing
Per the outlet, she said, "When I was on tour with George, I was 22 and my dad was on the road with us. And I had gotten a tattoo, and it ruffled my dad's feathers pretty good, and he was really, really mad. We rode the same bus together on the Strait tour, and so I had to wear I had to wear long sleeves for two weeks and he wouldn't talk to me."
George Strait Got Wind Of Dad And Daughter Lambert Being On The Outs
Strait is a dad himself. He has a son and also had a daughter who lost her life in a car accident when she was just a teen. He therefore must have understood how fraught the situation was between the Lamberts over her tattoo.
When the tour was winding down, there was a group photo taken of everyone. Strait obtained 75 stick-on tattoos for the gang to adhere to their arms in the same spot that Lambert had her tattoo. He hoped that his idea would make Rick and Miranda lighten up on each other.
Lo and behold, Miranda came by for the pic and 60 people in the crew showed their fake tattoos - including her dad!
According to the outlet, Miranda Lambert said, "So I have to thank George for helping me get back to talking to my father again after I got my horrid, hideous tattoo. So thanks George, for mending our relationship."
