The reality star shared on social media that his son, Garry Chapman, has been reinstated as a police officer in the city of Priceville, Alabama.

Why Was Garry Terminated From the Police Force?

On Sep. 6, Garry pursued a suspected drunk driver and traffic violator on the freeway and Main Street in Hartselle, Alabama. The chase ended when the suspect crashed into a car with several teens inside.

A 17-year-old named Tristan Hollis also died from the injuries sustained in the crash.

Garry was first placed on administrative leave. Later, Police Chief Jerry Holmes confirmed his firing.

How Was Garry Reinstated?

On Oct. 13, about five weeks after the incident, the Priceville City Council voted unanimously to reinstate Garry. The decision didn't come without some provisions, though.

The council suspended Garry for 10 days without pay and put him on work probation when he returns. He will also have to retrain with a supervisor when he returns to work.

According to WAFF-TV, Garry said he was thankful to the Lord, who's "really helped me through all of this."

"Me appealing my termination was not a discount to that," he added. "It was merely standing up for what's right and for myself, because what I did I truly believe I was in the right for."

What Does Dog the Bounty Hunter Say About This?

Dog echoed Garry's sentiments in a statement he shared on social media.

"Today, God showed up," the message began.

"After many prayers, my son Gary has officially been reinstated as an officer — cleared of any wrongdoing in the tragic pursuit that claimed the life of a young man. From the beginning, Gary acted with honor, courage, and integrity while doing his job to protect and serve."

"The real tragedy came from a suspect who chose to flee — and whose reckless actions caused a heartbreaking loss that will never be forgotten.

"While we are grateful to see justice done and Gary's name cleared, our hearts remain heavy for the family who lost their son. As a father, I can understand that pain all too well, and our prayers will continue to be with them.

"Today reminds us that truth always comes to light, that God never leaves His children, and that faith will carry you through even the darkest storms.

"We love you, Gary. Welcome home, son."
