John Daly's Behavior On The Course Has Earned Him A Cult Following
John Daly is a beloved veteran golfer known for his outspoken behavior on the course and off. Daly is known for smoking and drinking while playing 'the gentleman's game,' and his actions have earned him quite the cult following. He strikes quite a contrast compared to many other players and is described by some as having "a non-country-club appearance and attitude."
Even in December 2024, Daly was filmed showing up to play in a loud pair of orange trousers. He happily meets fans and signs their attire. He also casually putts a ball into the hole one-handed while smoking a cigarette with the other!
While he's no Happy Gilmore, Daly has accumulated a respectable list of major infractions in the sport. According to Sportskeeda, Daly has been suspended five times and racked up fines to the tune of over $100,000. He has also been cited 11 times for "conduct unbecoming of a professional," whatever that means. He's also been cited 21 times for "failing to give his best efforts."
Still, there's no denying that Daly has got the job done on many occasions during his career and he has the accolades to prove it. Daly is a two-time major champion. He's also won the PGA tour five times.
