The show could hardly go on without the frontman and lead singer at the helm. In a heartfelt message, released on Instagram, Rzeznik reached out to fans. He was clearly cut up about the Goo Goo Dolls postponed South Africa tour. But, what can you do?
The singer, who is 58, apologized to the many Goo Goo Dolls fans. "I'm truly sorry that I cannot be there, but I wound up going to the doctor and I have pneumonia, and they checked me into the hospital," he lamented.
The lead singer of the Goo Goo Dolls reassured their fans that they would be back, and bigger than ever after they had postponed the original dates. "We're heartbroken to postpone our South Africa shows. This country means so much to us, and we were so excited to create more memories with you. Sadly, my doctor has advised rest and recovery. Thank you for your understanding—we'll make it worth the wait when we return in March 2025!"

As he points out, he's been told to rest for a few days. Pushing himself would only result in more illness, and that wouldn't end well for anyone.
New Dates Announces For Goo Goo Dolls Postponed Tour
Despite being hospitalized, the group knew their fans needed news as soon as possible. Along with the video apologizing for the delay, come the new dates of the tour. As it stands, provided that John Rzeznik makes a full recovery, the new dates are.
- March 25 - Cape Town
- March 27 - Durban
- March 29 - Pretoria
Despite the Goo Goo Dolls tour dates being postponed, all previous tickets are still valid. It'll just hopefully be a case of rescheduling the babysitter and changing holiday dates at work for most folks. Most of the fans are fully in support of his decision to sit the original tour dates out. "So sorry to hear this. Pneumonia is no joke and your health is top priority. Wishing you a speedy recovery." one poster comments.
Here's hoping the Goo Goo Dolls are back to full health in the future, and tearing up South Africa.
