Harrison Ford Suffers Injury While Filming 'Indiana Jones 5'

Harrison Ford has sustained a shoulder injury while filming "Indiana Jones 5," which has required the actor to take a hiatus from filming. Fear not "Indiana Jones" fans, according to director James Mangold, they'll continue to shoot the movie without Ford. This isn't the first time Ford suffers an on-set injury. The "Star Wars" actor suffered a broken leg by a hydraulic door in an accident on the set of the Millennium Falcon spaceship while reprising his role for Han Solo in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" back in June 2014.

A Disney spokesperson released a statement about the injury, noting, "In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder. Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks."

"Indy 5" began production earlier this month, but the details for the beloved awaited sequel have yet to be announced. But what we do know is that 78-year-old actor is definitely reprising his role as the fedora-loving archaeologist. Starring alongside Ford will be trending Hollywood actor Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Thomas Kretschmann, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Shaunette Renee Wilson.

The film has been delayed several times but is currently scheduled to debut in theaters on July 29th, 2022. This is 15 years after the most recent "Indiana Jones" film back in 2008, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," and more than four decades after the 1981 film "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

Steven Spielberg directed the first four films of the franchise and was initially set to direct the fifth one. However, he decided to pass the torch to Mangold who previously directed "Logan" and "Ford V Ferrari." Spielberg is still expected to remain as a producer, but George Lucas, who co-created "Indiana Jones" with Spielberg, has not been involved with "Indiana Jones 5."
