Stern is perhaps best known for his role as Marv, one-half of the villainous Wet Bandits, in the film Home Alone. In the movie, he and his partner, Harry, played by Joe Pesci, attempt to rob a suburban Chicago home, but they must outsmart an 8-year-old defending his residence with homemade booby traps. Stern reprised his role in the film's sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

What Happened to Daniel Stern?

Stern was served at the motel when the offense took place. He was then given a citation and released.

In California, soliciting a sex worker carries a $1,000 fine or up to six months in jail if convicted.

In addition to the recent legal developments, late last year, Stern was taken to the hospital for a medical emergency. He reportedly made a full recovery.

The actor has been married to actress Laure Mattos since 1980. They have three children. One, Stern's 43-year-old son Henry, is a State Senator in California.

Stern Moved to a Farm

In 2024, we reported that Stern moved to a farm in California, where he raises cattle, grows tangerines, and works as a sculptor on his property.

He explained, "I made enough money that I didn't have to work."

Stern added, "I bought everything straight up because as an artist, I never knew if [I was] going to make any more bread. And I said to my wife, 'How much money do I need to sock in the bank so that we can live off the interest and so that I don't have to work?' She said, 'We hit it.'"

Stern, who also had memorable roles in Diner and City Slickers, said he wanted to disconnect from the industry, which he found to be "overwhelming."

He said, "I love being in nature. I love being away. I love my solitude, and I love being able to focus on what I'm making. So the farm world is a great place for me."
