Johnson was scheduled to perform at the Myrtle Beach, S.C. venue on July 23. News of the cancellation broke via social media and flyers posted on the venue door.
"Tonight's artist refused to adhere to our safety and security guidelines and would not enter the building," the statement read. "Unfortunately, tonight's show is cancelled."
The cancellation caused hundreds of fans to flock to the House of Blues' Facebook page to voice their frustrations. Melonie Cannon, a member of Johnson's band, wrote that "no one in our band or crew carried a gun in that building."
In a post shared on Cannon's personal Facebook page, fellow band member Tony TC Coleman shared his response to the cancellation.
