“I Really Look up to Her”: Lainey Wilson Is Serving as a “Big Sister” Figure for This Rising Country Star

Anne Wilson talks about her love for Lainey Wilson and the inspiration behind her new album Stars, which is available to stream now.

Anne Wilson's country music story is undoubtedly one that inspires. Initially, the "God Story" singer felt called to country music following the death of her older brother. Wilson then went on to be nominated for a Grammy, win two Dove Awards, and achieve significant success in both the country and Christian music genres.

In an interview with Holler, Wilson discussed what it was like to collaborate with some of her inspirations on REBEL. She also shared what fans can expect from a deluxe version of her new album, Stars. Word on the street is, it might include features from some of Wilson's biggest inspirations. After all, for every artist that inspires us, there's one that inspired them as well.

For Anne, that artist would be this year's CMA award presenter, Lainey Wilson. On her 2024 project, Anne collaborated with Lainey on the song "Praying Woman". The song was inspired by both Lainey and Anne's mothers, who raised them in a Christian household. On May 2, Wilson took to Instagram to give tribute to the duet.

"'Praying Woman' featuring the incredible @laineywilson is available now," she shared. "We both have been blessed to be raised by moms who always supported us and hit their knees praying for their girls. This song is a tribute to those who believe in the power of prayer, and what better day to honor that than #NationalDayOfPrayer." Wilson has expressed a desire to work with Lainey again. She shared, "Lainey has become like a big sister to me, and I really look up to her, and she's such an inspiration to me. [A collaboration] is definitely something that I would love to pursue".

Anne Wilson Shares the Inspiration Behind Her Album Stars

While talking with The Christian Beat, Anne Wilson discussed the inspiration behind Stars and how it relates to her story. She revealed that, before her brother Jacob passed away, she had always wanted to be an astronaut as a girl. It was the tragic event that made her realize she was made for something different, something that would keep her bound to the earth for a bit longer.

"Heartbreak, loss, and disappointment can make you forget how to dream," she shared. "This album is my reminder that the same God who created the stars created me, and you, too. God hasn't forgotten you. He's placing you right where you're meant to be. My prayer is that these songs remind you: you were made for the stars. I hope y'all love this album!"

Of Stars, Wilson has hinted that although she didn't want any features on the original project, she's open to the idea for a deluxe version. 'I feel like for this album, I want to be the one to sing every song'. It's such a personal album that I was like, 'Let's do it just me, and let's just keep features off until later on'".

We might not be getting another epic collaboration between the Wilson's just yet. But at this rate, we wouldn't be disappointed or surprised if the Stars singer had a few more tricks up her sleeve.
