Longtime host Jeff Probst hints on his On Fire with Jeff Probst podcast that a celebrity contestant will be part of the upcoming season.
"We have someone applying for Season 49 who is very accomplished and known around the world," Probst says (via American Songwriter). "They too are going through the same casting process, the same way every other player did, because this is everything."
Even if they are famous, Probst says the contestants still have to go through the same casting process as everyone else.
"We have to know you," says Probst. "We have to anticipate you. There's not a right or wrong answer in casting. People often say, 'How do I get on the show?' Just be yourself. We just want to know who that version of you is."
Perhaps not coincidentally, Bentley has a break in his tour schedule in April and May, which is when Survivor will be filming.
Even more convincing, Tiktok user @AllWinnersSurvivor cites plenty of reasons why Bentley is likely the celebrity contestant.
"Well what started out as just a random, obscure guess as to what celebrity Jeff Probst was hinting at being in the casting process for Survivor 49 and it turns out to be true!" he writes. "A VERY reputable and verified source in Nashville said Dierks going on Survivor is the worst kept secret in Nashville. Normally I wouldn't share casting rumors but the heart of Survivor since the beginning is speculating and guessing, and since Jeff Probst talked about this in an interview I feel like it's fair game."
Why Dierks Bentley Is The Perfect Choice
No one is confirming if Bentley will be part of Survivor, but it makes perfect sense, since he loves the outdoors. It's why he, along with his wife and three children, moved to Colorado during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I was out in Colorado," Bentley told The Gazette. He said he was living the dream. "I was living the life I'd been dreaming about for many years. I was back in the mountains biking, skiing, hiking, fishing, and camping — I wasn't interested in music at all."
Bentley's last album, Gravel & Gold, was released in 2023. He is reportedly working on new music. Season 48 of Survivor premieres on CBS on February 26.
