I’ve Never Heard of This Strange Food Request on Zach Top’s Rider, but I’m Willing To Try It

Artists often have strange requests on their tour rider, which is what they want to have backstage before each show. But Zach Top's might be one of the strangest, so odd there isn't even a name for it.

"A lot of Coors Banquet beer," Top tells Taste of Country, listing all of the songs on his rider. "Bourbon. I'll tell you a weird one: I get a lot of crap for this one. But my mom used to make this snack. I don't know what it's called or anything. But, she'd take a slice of deli ham, take a little cream cheese, spread it on the slice of ham. Put a piece of pickled asparagus in the middle. Roll it up, and eat it, like a little taquito."

"I just get the ingredients on my rider," Top shares. "And then I make it. I make it."

Country artists tend to be pretty straightforward when it comes to their backstage requests. Dierks Bentley just wants his own Row 94 Whiskey. According to TOC, Tim McGraw wants peanut M&Ms, while Lainey Wilson wants Throat Coat Tea. Jelly Roll wants socks, and Lady A want pork rinds.

Zach Top's Meteoric Rise in Country Music

Top has had a meteoric rise in country music, with no signs of slowing down. The reigning ACM New Male Vocalist of the Year has been applauded by both country music legends and other rising stars, for his commitment to country music. He also proudly wears a cowboy hat, although he insists it isn't a gimmick.

"We grew up on a farm, my dad and his partner ran a big ol' piece of land, with a bunch of Black Angus Cattle," Top tells radio station 92.3 WIL. "He still runs the sale barn out there. That was his main thing. He and his partner had a side deal, where they raised a bunch of cows."

"So we got to... play cowboy a little bit," he continues. "Didn't have to do it for a living, but I like to say I spent enough time on a horse's back looking at a cow's a-- that I can wear the hat without shame. I got it before I moved to Nashville, anyway."

Top currently has a Top 30 hit, with "Good Times & Tan Lines."
