Jack Black Reveals Mind-Blowing Missed Opportunity With Pixar Classic

During a recent interview with Capital FM, Jack Black revealed that he once turned down a role on Pixar's 'The Incredible'

Who doesn't love Jack Black? He's funny, witty, and most of his films are a good watch. Furthermore, his band, Tenacious D, is one of the most seriously unserious forms of entertainment to come out of the 2000s.

Over the years, it's felt like Jack can't put a foot wrong. He makes songs, and they become cult hits. He stars in movies, and they instantly seem to do well at the box office, or later as part of a core, more niche audience.

However, Jack recently admitted to arguably his greatest fumble. The "Tribute" singer told Capital FM that he previously turned down the role to play Syndrome in the monster smash hit The Incredibles.

"I was offered, and I do regret it, saying no... I was offered Syndrome in that fantastic movie The Incredibles—one of my favorites of all time, by the way," Jack said. "This character that you're offering me is like a villain, but he's kinda one-dimensional. I'm interested, but I'd like to see a rewrite."

The Jumani actor then revealed that he asked for some edits to be made to the script, to which he was swiftly shut down.

Jack Black Is Right To Regret Missing Out on 'The Incredibles'

The Incredibles hit movie theaters in 2004. The Pixar production immediately became a fan favorite. It drew $261.4 million in the United States and a further $370.1 million internationally. And this was back in the early 2000s, before recessions and pandemics tore through the global economy.

Jack would have been the ideal voice for Syndrome, the villainous protagonist in the movie. His blend of seriousness and humor fit perfectly with what The Incredibles went with for their bad guy.

Nevertheless, it's hard to imagine anything being different about The Incredibles. It's a classic movie loved by kids and adults alike. And, fortunately for Jack, his decision came while he was still riding high on the success of School of Rock. That movie has also become somewhat of a classic over the years.

Actors often have a movie they wind up regretting, and for Jack, it's clear why he looks back on The Incredibles as a missed opportunity. Yeah, that one probably stings.
