Jamey Johnson Has Surprising Answer To Who He Would Sing With In Heaven

Clint Black likes to ask his guests, "Who would you like to like to sing with in heaven" at the end of every show, and Jamey Johnson had the perfect response.

Now, personally, I wouldn't be able to answer that question, because I'm not going to heaven, and absolutely nobody I would want to sing with is making it through those pearly gates either.

But, Jamey Johnson had a good request for his heaven collab. Rather than go for the usual response of a dead idol, he got more into the reality of the afterlife. Of course, his first answer was that he would have to "see who's there."

Who knows who's making it into the great gig in the sky? There might not be anyone up there worth singing with. After all, many of the greats lived lives of sin and debauchery. You may only be left with those old biddies who wail away week after week from the front pews.

Jamey Johnson Making The Most Of Heavens Backing Vocals

When we think of heaven, there is always the chorus of angels guiding us into the afterlife. This is what Jamey Johnson would choose to sing with in heaven. Speaking to Clint Blac on his show, he spoke of how beautiful he found the congregation.

"I don't know, man. I think the sweetest sound you'll ever hear is the entire congregation in unison. I heard a preacher say that growing up, that that was his favorite voice of all. It wasn't any one person that took the stage that sang the special. His favorite voice was the congregation." So, everyone down tools, or whatever you do in heaven, Jamey Johnson wants a singalong.

He's got a point though. There is something beautiful about a choir. "It was the people in harmony, it was the people in unison," he continued. "It was a collective thought shared by all these people returned back in one voice... I wonder what the song would be. It might be 'Amazing Grace.'"

Maybe he's been contemplating the great beyond a little too much recently. Either way, a question that's usually a way for artists to wax lyrical about a dead idol became quite a thoughtful moment.
