The older you get, the harder it is for you to stay in shape. The wear and tear of your muscles and bones change as your body ages. Consequently, it becomes increasingly tempting to let nature take its course. Why not kick your feet up after so much hard work in life? However, legendary actress Jane Fonda begs to differ. She feels like it's more vital than ever to remain fit and flexible as you head into old age.

Recently, Fonda spoke with PEOPLE magazine for an interview. There, she candidly speaks about her fitness routine and what that looks like at 87 years old. "I essentially do everything I used to do, just slower," Jane emphasizes. "I used to be a runner, but now I love walking. I love being outdoors in the woods, especially up and down hills."
Jane Fonda Talks About The Importance of Exercise in Old Age
For Fonda, she argues that it's vital to stay malleable with her fitness journey. It's incredibly easy to settle into a mindless routine where your heart and mind isn't into it. Instead, she expresses how important it is to vary the exercises in order to stay invested and target different parts of the body. "I work out every day, so it is important to mix up the way I move. I alternate days doing upper body and lower body work for strength. I also find some way to get cardio in. Walking outside is one of my favorite ways to do so," Jane says.
This talk about exercise comes in service to an upcoming fitness class she's doing in partnership with Supernatural. They're a virtual reality platform that hones in on fitness and wellness and people like Jane Fonda join aboard to try continue the tradition of old VHS fitness programs. The actress hones in on this transition into the future, saying, ""Going from VHS to VR, I was surprised by how easy Supernatural was to pick up. We really bridged the past and future of fitness with this series. Aside from the technology, it felt as if no time had passed."
