Jason Aldean Makes His Stance on AI-Generated Chart-Topper Known in New Post

Jason Aldean doesn't seem like he's the biggest fan of country music's Breaking Rust, an AI-generated band on the rise.

We never thought we'd see the day when AI-generated songs were topping the charts, but today is that day. Breaking Rust, which currently sits at the top of the Billboard charts with the song "Walk My Walk", is entering its second week at No. 1. The band, which reaches for a soulful country sound inspired by outlaw cowboys, is entirely AI-generated. But that hasn't stopped the group from dominating the digital songs chart. With all the opinions surrounding AI and the impending doom that some artists think it portends, a lot of country singers, like Jason Aldean, for example, have had a few things to say.

On Monday, Aldean posted a video to various

social media outlets with his song, "Lovin' Me Too Long" playing in the background. It shows the singer getting ready backstage for a concert, and boasts a matching caption. "An AI artist might have the #1 country song right now, but AI can't play a live show."

Breaking Rust's hit song, "Walk My Walk", is written by the band's pseudonym, but credits Aubierre Rivaldo Taylor as its creator. Currently, on Spotify alone, the song has over four million streams.

Timbaland Announces His AI-Based Company, Stage Zero

While Aldean made it clear where his stance on AI lies, there are other creators who see it as a positive tool. Timbaland, the producer responsible for hits like "Sexyback" and "Get Ur Freak On", even started his own AI-based entertainment company. He explained to Variety that, because of how he uses the technology, his music is still "80-85% human."

"You have to use AI as a collaborator, not a creator," he shared. "If you don't know music — and you don't know a quarter note, third note, a break, a bridge — you're not going to get what you're looking for, and your taste is key. If you don't have great taste, you're going to get what they call 'AI slop.' But if [it's used by someone] great, you're going to know the difference."

Timbaland's company, Stage Zero, recently announced the debut of its very own AI artist, Tata. Tata, as Timbaland explained, is not "an avatar" as some people might assume. "She is not a character," he shared in a press release. "TaTa is a living, learning, autonomous music artist built with AI. Tata is the start of something bigger. She's the first artist of a new generation. A-Pop is the next cultural evolution, and TaTa is its first icon."

TaTa's debut single, "Glitch x Pulse," arrived in October 2025, accompanied by a music video. Turns out the music video isn't entirely AI; it actually includes live-action dancers.
