Monday was the day. For some, it was the day they had been waiting for, for others it was the day they had been dreading. Regardless of personal sentiments, the day finally arrived...inauguration day. This the day where our previous president, President Joe Biden, steps down and makes space for our incoming president, President Donald Trump. While the inauguration was scheduled to occur at noon, the festivities proceeded throughout the entire day. Those festivities included many musical performances, from artists like Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, and Carrie Underwood.

When And Where Jason Aldean Performed For The Inauguration
Trump's inauguration took place at midday in the Capitol rotunda. While it was originally set to take place outdoors, the cold weather caused plans to change. The ceremony marked the peaceful transfer of power from one administration to the next.
All musical performances and festivities occurred after the inauguration. While Trump got sworn into office at noon, the festivities and performances continued throughout the day and into the evening. One of those musical performances was from country music star, Jason Aldean. Jason Aldean performed after Trump's inauguration during the Liberty Inaugural Ball.
Also performing at the Inaugural Ball was Rapper Nelly and the Village People. While some musical guests were surprising to see at the president's inauguration, Jason Aldean was not one of them. Aldean has been an outspoken Trump supporter throughout his entire campaign.
On Election Day, he posted images of himself with the now president. Additionally, he shared this caption. "Over the past several years we have taken a lot of heat from the entertainment industry and the media for our support of @realdonaldtrump," Aldean wrote. "As a father and an American citizen, I want to see our country get back to its values and principles that made us great to begin with."
Jason Aldean's Inauguration Performance
After Trump's inauguration, Jason Aldean took the stage to perform during the Liberty Ball. The country star performed an hour's worth of music including, "Fly Over States," "Burnin' It Down" and his controversial hit "Try That In A Small Town."
The star cracked many jokes while on stage that evening. After a couple of his songs, the musician told the crowd, "They asked me to play a little while longer for you guys if that's alright." He continued, "I think Trump is still fixing sh*t," with a chuckle before beginning his next medley. From there, Jason Aldean continued to express how honored he felt to be a part of the inauguration experience.
Later in the evening, he chose to play one of his most controversial songs, "Try That In A Small Town." When it was first released, the song sparked a lot of controversy but that did nothing to deter Aldean from playing it again last night. Holler Country shared Aldean's thoughts on the matter. When introducing the song the artist said the following.
"Well, this next song kind of stirred up a little bit of some shit. But I've always said I stand by the song, I stand by the video...I stand by what it says, and I think President Trump does too, because he called me when this thing came out and told me he liked the song, and what a great song it was...and you guys ended up making this one a big hit for us, so I'm gonna play it for you guys. It's called, 'Try That in a Small Town'".
The Public Reacts
So far it seems that the public has been responding well to Jason Aldean and his inauguration performance. Up2Date Country shared some clips from his performance on their Instagram and the comments have been overwhelmingly positive so far. Many fans commented red hearts and American flags. Others shared how proud they were of the artist or that they were "country strong." Others commended him for his patriotism.
In addition to his fans, it seems like Jason Aldean himself is proud of his performance. He did a CBS morning interview the day of the inauguration ball and commented on how special of a day it was for him. The Tennessean shares the following quote.
"I've done a lot of things in my career, a lot of things I never thought I would do, but playing for the inauguration for one of our presidents is something that I've never done. It's a special day for me; I'm honored to be here. This is a different world for me a little bit."
I am curious to see if the star will continue to get praise for his appearance and performance or if he will begin to face backlash as some of the other performers have. I suppose we will have to stay tuned.
