The first time the "You Make It Easy" singer honored the legacy of the conservative activist, it was the day after the 31-year-old was assassinated during a speaking engagement on Sep. 10 at Utah Valley University in Orem.

At a show at Pine Knob Music Theatre, located just outside Detroit, Aldean spoke about his relationship with Kirk.

"I couldn't get through tonight without addressing something that happened yesterday, as you guys well know," he said. "An amazing person by the name of Charlie Kirk was murdered yesterday in Utah. This was a guy that I knew for a few years, had a chance to meet him on quite a few occasions, talk to him, one of the best people ever. I mean, this is not the guy you go after, is what I'm trying to say."

Aldean added that "It's a weird country that we live in. When you start taking people out because you disagree with their opinions, that's not what we're about here."

Jason Aldean Will Pay Tribute to Charlie Kirk Again This Week

Aldean and his wife, Brittany, will appear at The Patriot Awards on Thursday, Nov. 6. It will take place at The Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in Brookville, New York. The show will start at 8 p.m. Fans can catch the show on FOX Nation, with a later airing on FOX News Channel.

The Aldeans, along with FOX News Channel personality Jesse Watters, will present the inaugural Charlie Kirk Legacy Award to Erika Kirk. She is the widow of the Turning Point USA founder.

Each year, the award will be given to an individual who embodies Kirk's values. These include faith, family, and freedom of speech.

Aldean will also perform "Try That in a Small Town" and "How Far Does a Goodbye Go" at the event.

Kirk Was a Fan of Aldean

At that same concert in Detroit, Aldean shared how Kirk loved the message behind the song "Try That in a Small Town."

"I remember when we put this song out, people like Charlie Kirk were some of the first ones to come up and go, 'That's what it's about: this country coming together, calling out the [expletive] when we see it, trying to get everything back on track.' This guy wanted nothing more than what was best for all of us and our kids and everything moving forward," he said.

Aldean added, "Charlie's a guy that's going to be very, very much missed. And this is something that his legacy is going to live on forever with Turning Point and what he's done with only 31 years on this planet. It's amazing. So just a really tragic loss for everybody."
