Jelly Roll Pays Heartfelt Tribute to The Late Ozzy Osbourne: "Thanks for Everything"

If there is anything we know about Jelly Roll, it's that he can be emotional to the max at times. When he was on American Idol last season as Artist-in-Residence, he showed that he could be joyful as well as teary occasionally. The death this week of heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne inspired Jelly to pen a tribute to the late rocker. It was honest, kind, and sincere. He kept it brief, but clearly straight from his heart. Per Taste Of Country, he wrote, "'Forever grateful,'" Jelly wrote in an Instagram Stories slide, over a photo of himself and the Prince of Darkness smiling and posing with a group of people." There was also a red heart emoji.

Many Famous Country Singers Were Admirers of Osbourne's

Several country singers have expressed their admiration for Osbourne. They typically had some professional connection with him or his songs. Among them are HARDY, Carrie Underwood, and Dolly Parton.

Sadly, Osbourne played his very last show recently, on Saturday, July 5.

Jelly Roll Was an Ozzy Osbourne Fan, Too

Jelly Roll certainly counted himself among Osbourne's faithful fans. In 2024, he was on hand to celebrate the rocker's career when he went into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame "as a solo artist." Jelly did a memorable rendition of the song "Mama, I'm Coming Home." He was surrounded by a gaggle of fellow musicians. The outlet speculates that a snap from that occasion is the one Jelly used with his tribute to Osbourne.

Although Jelly Roll has his musical roots in the country genre, he can also attest to "strong rock leanings." Thus Jelly's musical kinship of sorts with Osbourne. The outlet likened Jelly to a "Prince of Darkness" himself, given his personal experience with issues such as substance abuse and other thorny crises.

Ozzy Osbourne's Legacy

His loss will be felt across the entire music world for a very long time. As is the case with numerous artists, Osbourne's music will be his immutable legacy.
