Singer Jessie Murph is no stranger to being a hot topic. Casual fans likely know Murph from her feature on Jelly Roll's single "Wild Ones", which was criticized at the time of its release by some—and loved by others. But as it turns out, Jessie Murph might be okay with a little bit of controversy, especially in her new music video.

This past April, the TikTok music star's song "Blue Strips" started rapidly trending on the app, just in time for Murph to announce the release of her sophomore album. Just a few weeks ago, Murph released Sex Hysteria, along with a music video to accompany the second track on the album, "1965". The content of the video is—in certain shots—rather explicit.
In just ten days, the music video has garnered nearly 8 million views and secured the No. 1 spot on YouTube for music videos. But if you decide to watch it, you'll come to realize there's a reason for all the attention, and not all of it's positive.
At the minute and thirty-second mark, the music video pans to a back shot of Murph standing in the doorway of a room where two people are having sex. Shortly before this scene, there's a scene that shows a young girl, probably around 4 or 5. years old People watching found this detail particularly disturbing, mainly since the scenes occur so closely together.
"Having a kid in this video is crazy work."
"The way the shot of the little girl immediately cuts to THAT is kinda unsettling."
"Right after a kid on screen is crazy!"
There are also numerous sexual innuendos throughout the video, which are slightly less vulgar. Still, people are discussing the first controversial scene, which occurs before the video is even halfway over. Graphic as it may be, you have to give Jessie Murph a little credit—the girl has guts, and whether it's negative or positive, she knows how to get a whole lot of people talking.
Who Is Jessie Murph and What Is She Doing Now?
Originally from Huntsville, Alabama, Jessie Murph garnered a fan base by posting covers on TikTok and YouTube. After signing a record deal with Columbia Records in 2021, she began working on her debut studio album, That Ain't No Man, That's The Devil. By 2023, she had reached an impressive 10.5 million followers on TikTok and 1.3 million on Instagram, and now, she's taking over social media again with a new aesthetic and her first headline tour this summer.
As many fans have speculated, her new look, which features a 60s-style updo and a classic cat-eye makeup, is inspired by Elvis Presley's wife, Priscilla Presley. Much of her tour also features her doing unique stunts on stage, inspired by her days as a cheerleader in middle school and high school.
The 20-year-old is currently on her WorldWide Hysteria Tour, which will visit major cities in the United States, including Dallas, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville. She'll also be hitting cities in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Love it or hate it, you have to admit, at 20 years old, that's pretty impressive!
