Grammy-Winning Rock Star’s Wife Files for Divorce Months After Police Standoff and Health Diagnosis

Weezer bassist Scott Shriner and his wife Jillian Lauren Shriner are reportedly heading for divorce after 20 years of marriage

Scott Shriner and his wife Jillian Lauren Shriner have been married for 20 years. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they're going to make their 21st wedding anniversary. According to TMZ, Jillian has filed for divorce from Shriner, who rose to fame as the bassist of Weezer. She's citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the separation.

And while Jillian is seeking joint custody of their two children, aged 17 and 13, she's also making some financial moves. On the documents obtained by TMZ, Jillian has filled in the section of the form that requests spousal support. However, she has also filed for the court to reject Scott from seeking that assistance himself.

The couple has been married since 2005. Their wedding took place in Hawaii. It's worth noting that no separation date has been listed on the documents.

Jillian Shriner Recently Avoided a Jail Sentence

It's been a tough year for Jillian. In March, she announced that she'd been diagnosed with cancer via an Instagram post.

"Yes, I have a little bit of the C word y'all. I know a lot of us do," Jillian wrote in the caption. "I'm here to thank the incredible oncology team here, who pulled me through a complicated operation without a hitch. I am always so grateful for every second of the compassionate, and excellent medical care I receive in my life. Thank you to all the remarkable health care workers, who take our lives in your hands. And let's all breathe."

Then, in April, police were called to a misdemeanor at the home she shares with Scott. Upon the police's arrival, Jillian was armed with a handgun. She reportedly refused to put the weapon down and discharged the weapon—allegedly firing at police.

She was charged with felony attempted murder. Fortunately for Jillian, the charges were knocked down to assault and negligent discharge of a firearm. She avoided jail after the judge granted her a diversion, citing mental health issues.

Nevertheless, it appears that Jillian's 2025 is continuing to spiral. Divorcing a partner of two decades is far from an easy process, both legally and emotionally. It's been a heck of a year for the couple. Hopefully, 2026 can offer some form of a reprieve, although that looks unlikely.
