Jimmy Kimmel Got Really Emotional Reflecting on His Harrowing Year: "We've Had Some Lows, We're Had Some Highs"

Jimmy Kimmel had a year of dramatic ups and downs. He mused about the events of 2025 on his last episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! of the year. You may recall that in September, the program was abruptly pulled off the air for several days after he made remarks about the recent murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk that rankled some higher-ups. Then Kimmel's bandleader and close friend from childhood, Cleto Escobedo III, suddenly passed away. So the popular late-night host had a lot of his plate on 2025 that he never anticipated. It was clearly tough on him.

Kimmel Warmly Thanked His Fans for Standing by Him

Kimmel has loads of loyal devotees. They hung in there with him when his show was in jeopardy. "I just want to say that we appreciate your support, your enthusiasm and not just for watching. This year, you literally pulled us out of a hole, and we cannot thank you enough personally."

He is glad that viewers find a sense of community, normality, and reassurance from watching him. Per the outlet, he said, "When I hear from people who tell me that they watch our show, and the shows that my friends and colleagues do on the other channels, and that it makes them feel less crazy, it makes me feel less crazy too,"

Kimmel Sees the Good in America, Not Just the Anger and Divisiveness

He emphasizes the positive things in America, rather than the bitterness and anger that seem so pervasive. Kimmel said, "I also believe it is important that we as Americans let our friends in other countries... know that a lot of us are not okay with what is happening. There is still much more good in this country than bad, and we hope that you will bear with us during this extended psychotic episode that we're in the middle of."
