It seems like the Lennon boys have an incredibly complicated relationship with their father and Beatles icon John. After he passed in 1980, it left his children in a bit of a whirlwind without their dad. Moreover, it took time for them to find their footing and chase their own passions without the Beatles shadow casting over them. For Julian Lennon, he hardly ever feels apart of such celebrations.

Recently, Lennon spoke with The Guardian to promote his new photography book Life's Fragile Moments. There, the 61 year old talks about his newest interest and the illustrious career he's carved out for himself. However, it goes without saying that people are curious what life is like as John Lennon's kid. For Julian, it's quite simple really: he's not all that involved with it. When it comes to different Beatles projects, he says, "It's news to me half the time."
Julian Lennon Feels Like an Outsider From The Beatles Festivities
"I'm not part of the inner circle — I never have been," Lennon continues. "You have to realize that when Dad left, when I was between 3 and 5, it was just Mum and me, and we had nothing to do with the Beatles or Dad. I visited him on the odd occasion, but we were very much on the outside."
If nothing else, Julian feels a profound closeness to his half brother Sean Ono Lennon. Their connection is much stronger since he didn't have much of a connection to his dad John Lennon. Even then, he doesn't get a ton of information about Beatles info behind the scenes. "I'm thankful that Sean and I get on like a house on fire — we're best buddies, and he tells me what he can, but things are pretty secret on the Beatles front," Julian says. "[It feels] extraordinarily strange, but I'm not upset about it. I'd rather be excited and impressed by what they did and continue to do."
