John Mayer Shares Heartfelt Message After Playing Record-Breaking Show With Zach Bryan

Here's what John Mayer had to say about making music history. His friendship with Zach Bryan is truly inspiring.

This week, Zach Bryan broke ticket records while playing at Michigan Stadium, and everyone is talking about it. Whether you were in the crowd or up on stage with the singer, everyone seems to be excited for the country star, who performed for over 112,000 people that night. John Mayer was fortunate to be one of the people getting a piece of the action. In a recent social media post, he couldn't contain his excitement.

On Instagram, the "New Light" singer shared, "This weekend, I took part in the largest ticketed event in U.S. concert history, thanks to Zach Bryan. He set a new attendance record at Ann Arbor's Michigan Stadium. What he's accomplished is truly phenomenal, and to share the bill with him was a real honor."

Bryan commented, expressing his gratitude for Mayer. "Couldn't have done it without you, John! We love ya!" A series of pictures shows Mayer playing guitar with Bryan onstage, and we have to say, it kind of makes us wish we were there.

No One Is a Bigger Zach Bryan Fan Than John Mayer

Mayer has been quick to express his admiration for Zach Bryan in the past, with whom he performed a duet in Los Angeles during the Quittin' Time Tour. After the performance, he shared another similar sentiment.

"It was one of the most incredible things I've seen in years. This guy and his band have the greatest camaraderie offstage and, therefore, on stage. The crowd goes nuts. I've never seen a band change the space around them in an arena. An arena is sorta like, 'Here, you're using our room, do your thing in our room." He said of Bryan's connection with his bandmates, "'Zach Bryan and his band are like, 'We're gonna take your room and we're gonna have a hoedown in it, thank you very much.'"

In 2024's Great American Bar Scene, John Mayer even collaborated with Zach on a song titled "Better Days." The song carries a theme of focusing on the positives of life and remaining true to oneself, much like the cover Mayer performed with Bryan of "Friend of the Devil" by the Grateful Dead.

John Mayer shared of his friend admiringly, "He's cracked some code that I have been waiting for someone to crack. He's tapped into a thing with people that should give everyone hope. " It seems that these two artists truly share a connection, and we look forward to more collaborations in the future.
