Controversial talking head Joy Behar threw a little shade Pope Francis' way after his passing, raising a few eyebrows.

While talking about the late Pope on The View, the hosts looked back on his reign. He had made waves in the Catholic Church, being progressive and welcoming to many new people. He had very modern opinions on homosexuality and used his publicity to campaign for human rights.
Pope Francis had often spoken out about the importance of helping our fellow man. Pope Francis was a return to a catholic faith that runs much truer to the word of god, according to the bible. He wasn't about division and exclusion; Pope Francis spoke of inclusion and kindness. It was a breath of fresh air.
On The View, Whoopi Goldberg reminisced on a time when she was invited to see him. "He was great. He brought, and this sounds crazy, but he brought 100 comedians from around the world in to meet with him."
However, Joy Behar wasn't too happy about this and threw some shade at the freshly deceased pope. "I don't remember that. I wasn't invited," she complained. Probably because she's not funny or famous.
Whoopi Goldberg Has Nothing But Praise For The Past Pope
However, despite the odd comment Joy Behar made about Pope Francis, Whoopi continued to sing his praises. His liberal views caught the hearts of many people around the world. He was a controversial character in the catholic church.
"What he said was, 'I want to laugh more. We all need to laugh more.' And then he looked at the 100 of us and he said, 'What you do is important. Because without you, it's a grayer day." Even for someone like Whoopi, who isn't a catholic, being complimented by Pope Francis must have been a highlight. It's not every day the leader of an international religion validates your humour.
Goldberg spoke about what she wanted to thank the pope for. Despite not aligning with his religion, she could still appreciate what he had done for international inclusion. "I wanted to thank him for all of my gay friends and for all of my divorced friends, because he basically has said, 'Listen, God loves you no matter what. Come back to the church."
Now, people are betting on the successor to Pope Francis. Whoever the new pope is, I doubt Joy Behar will be getting an audience.
