Kat Timpf Breaks Silence Following Cancer Diagnosis Announcement

Following a shocking cancer diagnosis announcement just as she welcomed her first child, Fox News' Kat Timpf took to social media to further talk about her cancer. In the video posted on her social media, Timpf appreciated the amount of support she received but expressed feeling overwhelmed with the "medical advice" she has received too.

The aforementioned video was posted only three days after Timpf announced she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

"First of all, thank you so much for all the support, it's meant so much to me. This is obviously a really crazy, difficult, unexpected time and I really do appreciate it," Timpf said. "But I wanted to address a few things because I've also been overwhelmed with, I guess you could say, medical advice?"

Medical Advice

Said "medical advice" comes after Timpf revealed that her doctors recommended a double mastectomy to get her "cancer out." Many questioned the doctors' advice, others shared their own experiences with breast cancer. Some would suggest only getting a lumpectomy, as per the Daily Mail.

"I just want to say, trust me, there's no one for whom that seems more extreme than me," Timpf said, referencing the double mastectomy. "I don't take cutting my t-s off lightly. As a general rule, I don't think any woman does. I find it devastating. But I am very grateful to have access to the opinions of many brilliant minds when it comes to breast cancer."

She would then state that every breast cancer is "very different," and therefore, unique. "There are a lot of details of mine that I haven't shared," Timpf added. She would assure her followers that she is making the "best decision" for her and her family, supported by the "best medical advice." To her, the most important thing is to spend as much time with her newborn son as possible.

Breast Cancer

On February 25, Kat Timpf revealed that she was diagnosed with what her doctor described as "stage 0 cancer." Hours later, she gave birth to her first child.

"Last week, I welcomed my first child into the world. About fifteen hours before I went into labor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer," Timpf revealed on social media. "By the middle of the afternoon, I was waddling around from appointment to appointment, talking about how to get my cancer out."

That's when she talked about her doctors' recommendation for a double mastectomy. While many reacted to the recommendation, Timpf, at the time, only focused on meeting her baby boy. She also shared a few moments of "dark humor" with hospital staff.

"These next three months of maternity leave are going to look a lot different than I'd anticipated," Timpf added. "I'm still getting used to my new reality,". "Still, as I navigate new motherhood (and new cancer) I'm learning to celebrate everything I can."
