Former 'American Idol' Judge Nearly Falls Out Of Stage Prop During Concert

Katy Perry sure has had a rough time lately. First her longtime relationship with actor Orlando Bloom fizzled. Then she barely escaped disaster on June 29. Perry nearly fell from a large metal sphere during a concert in Australia. Luckily, the "Firework" singer, 40, and former American Idol judge is totally fine. We wondered what happened to put Perry in peril, so here is the scoop.

Katy Perry Is Currently On Her Lifetimes Tour

Perry is touring to promote her album, 143. At the start of 2025, she shared with People, "There's costume changes, there's acts, there's dancers, there's musicians. I'll fly around the room. There's no bad seat in the house. I'm going to get close to everyone at some point."

What she did not anticipate was having a close call when a big prop malfunctioned, putting her at potential physical risk.

Per the outlet, "Fan footage shared on X shows the musician preparing to be lifted over the audience inside a metallic sphere by holding onto some cables." When that enormous sphere started to lift higher, it also started to tilt sideways, causing Perry to almost dangerously lose her balance. Thinking quickly, she hung onto the cables attached to the sphere. It was then safely lowered, with Perry drawing applause from the audience. Whew!

She Had A Poignant Interval During A Show The Next Day

Perry used her hands to create a heart shape while she was on stage on June 30. "Thank you for always being there for me, Australia. It means the world.' The moment passed and she was her usual jaunty self again. "Now let's sing 'Firework!' "

Perry's Breakup With Her Partner Bloom Must Be Hard For Her

An anonymous source shared with the outlet that Perry "never sw herself as a single mom." She and Bloom have a daughter, Daisy Dove, who is four and a half years old. The source added, "She's felt a lot of pressure about her tour and now this. It's been a lot for her. She's still doing great, though,"

Katy Perry always lands on her feet. We wish her well as she navigates life and motherhood on her own.
