According to a source close to the couple, Nicole was "fighting to save the marriage." It seemed her efforts were in vain, as the couple started living separately at the beginning of the summer. Reports from TMZ shared that Keith had "acquired his own residence in Nashville" and moved out of their family residence at the start of the season. The pair was last seen together at the FIFA Club World Cup match in June in Nashville.
Kidman even shared an Instagram photo of her and Urban on June 25th, wishing him a happy anniversary. They had been married for 19 years.
A Brief Timeline of Kidman and Urban's Relationship
Nicole Kidman, 58, and Keith Urban, 57, first met at the G'day USA gala in Los Angeles back in 2005. For Nicole, it was love at first sight. Kidman shared with the Ellen Degeneres Show, "I had such a crush on him, and he wasn't interested in me. It's true! He didn't call me for four months."
Keith Urban told the Associated Press that he "wasn't good at relationships" before meeting Kidman. "I would write these songs about love and relationships," he said. "I realized I was writing from all these places of the kind of person I wished I could be." And then, he met Kidman, and his world was changed.
These feelings were unbeknownst to Nicole, who Keith secretly felt was "way out of his league." Eventually, he did pick up the phone, however, and the two went on a picnic date in New York for their first outing. Nicole shared with W Magazine, "I was a goner—I mean, c'mon."
It didn't take long before they were engaged, just a year after that first date. They were married a month later, in June 2006, in Sydney, Australia.
Although Kidman also shares two kids with actor Tom Cruise from her previous marriage, she and Keith share two daughters: Sydney Rose, who is 17, and Faith Margaret, who is 14.
It seems that for now, the couple has separated, but it's unclear as to whether divorce is on the horizon. Nicole "didn't want this," a source told People. "Nicole's sister has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another."
