Keith Urban Kept Any Marital Issues With Nicole Kidman Private While Making 'The Road'

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman's breakup has been making headlines since the acclaimed actress filed for divorce in late September. The two seemed to be one of the entertainment world's most content couples. Suddenly however, both were under a microscope. Everyone was guessing what abruptly ended their 19-year marriage. A contestant on Urban's new singing contest TV show, The Road, says he was tight-lipped about any problems at home during filming earlier this year. That was months prior to his and Kidman's bombshell split.

The series showcases 12 hopeful country singers as they open for Urban at various venues in Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas.. Each week, there is an elimination. The winner gets a chance to appear at the 2026 Stagecoach Country Music Festival, a recording contract, and a cool quarter-million-dollar prize. Nice!

Urban, 57, is an exec producer, as is country music superstar Blake Shelton and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. Gretchen Wilson is the tour manager and mentor to the singers.

Urban Reportedly Said Nothing About Any Trouble Brewing in His Marriage

Per the Daily Mail, contestant Billie Jo Jones shared, "You wouldn't even know that he was going through anything because he definitely pushed personal stuff aside and was business professional the entire time, which is what a true artist should be and should be doing."

She added, "He is one of those people that really wants the best for you and really pushes you to be your best self."

He Dished About the Intense Rigors of Touring

On episode one, Urban talked frankly about the myriad challenges of being on tour. He did not sugarcoat anything. Per the outlet via The Road, the singer said, "It's a calling, and you're going to do it or you're not going to make it. When you wake up on a tour bus at 3.30 in the morning and you're sick as a dog, you're in the middle of nowhere and you've got to play your fifth show later that night."

He went on, "And you haven't slept, and you miss your friends, and you're missing your family, and you're completely lonely and miserable and sick - and you say to yourself, 'Why am I doing this? The only answer can be: Because this is what I'm born to do."
