It's 1994 and country music is as hot as ever. Brooks & Dunn, George Strait, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, they're all huge at this time. It was the perfect time to cut your teeth in Nashville if you're Keith Urban. Coming from Australia with dreams of becoming a huge country star, he was eager to make his mark. What better way to make an impression than by working with Alan Jackson? It seems like a dream scenario for Keith. However, apparently, their first time meeting wasn't the magical experience he was hoping for at the time.

Recently, Urban spoke with Bobby Bones for an interview, where he reflects on meeting the Chattahoochee star. He had just been cast as a "long-haired guitar player" alongside Jackson in the music video for "Mercury Blues." Obviously, Keith is starstruck and psyched to play with one of the hottest stars in Nashville at the time. However, as magical as that was for him, the aftermath didn't quite match the experience of playing with Jackson.
Keith Urban Says Alan Jackson Looked Over Him During Music Video Together
"He comes up with his acoustic [guitar] and he kinda just looks at me and he looks back at the camera and then they run the song. We both shred together," Urban recounts. "We were literally two feet from each other. And I'm waiting for him to say something, and he just looks around me. Never said a word to me."
Obviously, his friends wanted to know what Alan Jackson was like outside of their radios and TV screens. However, Keith had to break the news that they didn't even speak despite working together. Eventually, the pair become properly acquainted and call each other friends later on in their lives.
Additionally, Alan apologizes to Urban for ignoring him that day. He admits that he was pretty checked out on filming the video for a variety of reasons, but knows he shouldn't have treated Keith that way. Thankfully, it's all water under the bridge now.
