Keith Urban Reveals Squirm Inducing Injury On Stage

Playing on stage can be a treacherous job, it appears. We've seen all sorts here at Wide Open Country, from trapdoor plummets to bathroom disasters. And now Keith Urban has joined the list as he shows off a nasty injury that had the audience cringing.

On a live studio show, Keith Urban was setting up for his musical performance. He had already been in a lengthy interview, but had so far failed to mention a bandaid he had on his finger. But, as he sat down, he let the eager audience know why he was strapped up.

"So, I got a band-aid on my finger, so if I drop a pick, I'll probably rip this thing off at some point," he told them, making excuses before he even strummed a cord. As a musician, his fingers are his job. He won't do well without them.

But Keith Urban didn't leave his injury explanation there. He decided to really get into it, so they could sit there and think about it while he played. "We were playing last night, a club show, and I cut my finger at some point, and then as I pulled my finger up on a strumming stroke, the string went into the cut."

Crowd Reacts To Keith Urban Injury Tale

Shots of the crowd showed that Keith Urban had been visual enough with his injury description to make them uncomfortable. There were a lot of grossed out audience members, and one or two sympathetic. "I'm just gonna make y'all squirm like I did last night."

Despite his wounded digit, Keith Urban didn't let his injury get to him. He played just as well as he always does to the happy, if not slightly grossed out crowd. The true professional didn't let his achy finger get the better of him, and he didn't have to rip it off either.

For an artist like Keith Urban, their hands and their voices are their career. Losing either could be catastrophic. Singers in the past have overworked their vocal cords, requiring surgery that completely change their sound. But, for Keith Urban, his little booboo was nothing too serious, and certainly not career ending.
