"The Fighter," the fifth single off Urban's ninth studio album, is a flirty duet with fellow country star Carrie Underwood. It's been climbing the charts since its release to country radio on Feb. 6. The duo dazzled fans when they collaborated for an electrifying performance at the 59th Grammy Awards.
"I've always loved singing with her," Urban said of Underwood last April in a statement. "We had written this song, 'The Fighter,' that needed a female voice and Carrie's voice immediately came to mind."
But Urban took on a solo performance of "The Fighter" in his piano medley, weaving in elements of his previous chart-topping tune "Blue Ain't Your Color."
"I'll hold you tighter. When they're tryna get to you, baby, I'll be the fighter," Urban croons before swiftly transitioning to the chorus of "Blue Ain't Your Color."
Urban just marked his forth No. 1 hit from Ripcord, "Blue Ain't Your Color," by celebrating the song's chart-topping success with writers, producers and industry insiders last week at the Basement East in Nashville.
