It seems like there was just a terrible sickness in the air over the holidays. I couldn't quite avoid it myself after my travels, illness falling over me on and off heading into the New Year in 2025. It could be the reemergence of the bird flu, the continuation of COVID, or just the common cold stuffing everything up. Regardless, the holidays proved to be pretty icky for tons of Americans. Kelly Clarkson is no exception in all of this, as she reveals the brutal condition she battled behind the scenes.

Recently, the singer took to her daytime talk show's Instagram and answered a few different fan questions. There, she covers everything from family life to music. However, at the beginning of the video, Clarkson dishes on how her holidays were spent as she took a brief hiatus from her show. Unfortunately, she didn't quite get to enjoy the most wonderful time of the year. Instead, she was grappling with a pretty gnarly illness. "Look, I'm gonna be real with you, I had walking pneumonia my whole vacation," Kelly reveals. "I was really sick my whole winter break. [I] got better just in time to come back to work, so I guess a positive there."

In typical fashion, Clarkson tries to find a silver lining in her holiday season not being perfect. She details some of her environment while she was down with walking pneumonia. "It was good because if you're that miserably sick, but if you're in the most magical place called Montana and it's snowing and there's a fire and my dogs are there," Kelly remembers.
Additionally, Clarkson says that her kids spent the holidays with their dad in order to minimize the sickness spreading around. Ultimately, that leaves Kelly all to herself over the holidays. Consequently, she got some peace and quiet even if it meant being brutally ill. I guess you have to take the tranquility however you can get it.
