Kelly Stafford defends Carrie Underwood For Performing At Trump’s Inauguration

Anyone who decided to perform at the inauguration of Trump caught a bit of flack for it, but Kelly Stafford is standing up for Carried Underwood after her performance on the big day.

Carrie Underwood performed at the inauguration for free, purely out of the red, white, and blue in her veins. Her performance, like a number of others, was plagued by issues, and yet she persevered. The gig was moved inside, and she had to sing without a stage, and in a crowd. Furthermore, she had no backing track and was left to sing acapella.

Kelly Stafford supported Underwood and her decision to sing for Trump at his second inauguration. "I love that I didn't know her stance on politics," She said. "I mean, I just feel like that's kind of amazing. And I think it surprised a lot of people that she was going to perform."

Her co-host, Hank Winchester, completely understood her decision to sing. As he points out, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Anyone would be mad to pass up on such a promotional chance. "I thought Carrie Underwood was fantastic. I don't like people coming after her for... to me, no matter who I voted for, if a sitting president calls me and says, would you like to come to the White House? I'm going to the White House."

Carrie Underwood Has The Support Of Stafford

Despite the backlash Underwood received for choosing to play at the inauguration, Stafford understands her position. As Stafford points out, she tries to stay out of politics as much as possible, and who can blame her?

The country is more polarized than ever before, with right and left at each other's necks. Sometimes it's best to just stay out of it all, and enjoy life. "You just gotta pray that they make the right decisions for this country. You gotta support any way you can, even if you don't like them." Continuing, she said, "You just gotta do it until the next term, and then we'll bitch again."

As she points out, there is nothing she can do about it, so let's just stay out of it. It seems Underwood shares the same ideas as Stafford. Her one and only statement about playing at the inauguration was a neutral one. "I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future."

Rather than speaking about her political alliances, she chose to focus on the honour the big day brought to her. Staying neutral in a place like the USA is harder than ever.
