Kelsea Ballerini has shared that the music awards used to mean a lot to her. So much so, that she'd cry herself to sleep when she didn't win. Now, however, she's changed how she approaches award ceremonies.

She recently sat down with Lori Majewski to talk on the Fierce: Woman In Music podcast. There, she defended Cowboy Carter and F-1 Trillion as country albums and their nominations for the Grammys. On the topic of award shows, she also touched on how important they used to be for her.
"There are certain things that used to, like, really make me cry myself to sleep," she began. "One is when people said I wasn't country and two is losing awards." It's easy to see how being called 'not country' would offend a country artist. Being so distraught after not winning an award isn't healthy thinking, however.
Thankfully, however, she made peace with not winning.
"I don't win things, I mean, that sounds really...I don't, and I'm cool with it," she said. Now that's a strong mentality to have. Especially when you're nominated for her fifth Grammy. Although she's been nominated five times, and hasn't won five times, she's now excited just to be there.
Kelsea Ballerini Is Now Happy Just To Be Nominated
Kelsea Ballerini elaborates on her mindset for the award shows, explaining how she "changed [her] relationship with all of it."
"For awards shows, like, there's just so much else that goes into it," she continued. "And for me, if you get nominated, that means that sometimes, if you're lucky, you get three and a half minutes to sing on a show like the CMAs or the ACMs or the CMTs, you know, and that's an award."
"Once I rewired my brain to think like that, I'm so ecstatic to show up and perform most of the time, some of the time. And then watch a friend have a good moment."
This is such a healthy attitude toward the award ceremonies, and keeps them what they should be, which is fun. Although she didn't yesterday at the Grammys for Best Country Duo/Group Performance, at least we know she wasn't crying into her pillow when she got home.
That award went to "II MOST WANTED," by Beyoncé (featuring Miley Cyrus).
