Kelsey Grammer Shares Why He Thinks His 'Frasier' Revival Was Cancelled

A Frasier comeback seemed sabotaged from the jump. The series was cancelled back in January after only two seasons on Paramount+. It's not to say there wasn't any potential with the Kelsey Grammer revival. It's not insanely difficult to pick up where they left off, especially with some of the originals on board. Consequently, they would preserve some of the energy that made its first rendition great.

However, there are so many variables at play that work against it. You could look at the writers, you can ponder if it makes sense in the current iteration of American society. Oftentimes, actors don't have their hearts in it for these reboots either. But Kelsey Grammer believes that there's one clear reason why the newest rendition of Frasier didn't take off the way he imagined: Paramount.

Kelsey Grammer Slams Paramount for Failing Frasier Series Revival

Recently, Grammer spoke with the New York Post upon the cancellation of Frasier on Paramount+. There, he laments the fact that the network canned the show after only two seasons. However, he also senses that they didn't give Frasier the nurturing it needed to succeed in the first place. "Obviously, they didn't really promote or spend much time on it," Kelsey claims. "The fellow that worked at Paramount+ when we first sold the show there left, and so it sort of fell into their laps, the next administration. So I think they gave it sort of a good try, but they weren't particularly passionate about the project."

Regardless, Kelsey is hard at work at securing a new home for season 3 of Frasier. He believes in the audience's interest and the faith of a new distributor can give it the proper legs. Moreover, Grammer shares that he's also working with Ted Danson personally on some fresh ideas. "We'll end up somewhere where people are passionate about it. Listen, it's got a huge audience, a big following, and if people know where to find it, I think they will," Kelsey states. "Ted and I might visit actually something together. We've been talking about a couple ideas. Maybe on Frasier. We don't know."
